La joven Tita vive en tiempos de la Revolución Mexicana. Las reglas en su casa son estrictas y en ocasiones irracionables. Su madre insiste en que la última hija de una mujer debe dedicar su vida a atender a su madre, así que Tita debe entregarse completamente al servicio familiar y olvidar el amor y el matrimonio. Sólo al cocinar puede expresar sus pasiones, pero al comer sus platos especiales, la otra gente experimenta los mismos sentimientos.
A young girl named Tita longs her entire life for her lover, Pedro, but can never have him because of her domineering mother's traditional belief that the youngest daughter must not marry but take care of her mother until the day she dies. Tita is only able to express her passions and feelings through her cooking, which causes the people who taste it to experience what she feels.
